New client for ‘Transocean Leader’
Offshore drilling contractor Transocean has won new contracts worth around $610 million, the company has said in its fleet status report for September 2014.
According to the report, its Transocean Leader semi-submersible drilling rig, currently working for Statoil on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, will have a new client next year.
Transocean did not reveal anything about the new client’s identity or the rig’s new deployment spot, but it did reveal that the dayrate for the contract would be $335.000. The three years long contract will start in May 2015. Upon expiration of the original deal in May 2018, the rig will begin a one year contract at a reduced dayrate of 305.000.
