ClassNK updates offshore LNG guidelines
TOKYO – ClassNK has issued its third edition guidelines for floating offshore facilities for LNG/LPG production, storage offloading, and regasification.

The first edition, released in 2011, set out technical requirements for gas FPSOs. Guidelines were revised for the second edition, issued this February to clarify the application to FSRUs.
ClassNK’s third edition, based on discussions with various industry players, includes requirements for analysis of single-point mooring systems, such as turret moorings, and also details the environmental conditions that need to be considered and statistical analysis methods using tension evaluation.
In addition, requirements for fire protection and fire extinction have been partly revised.
