BP books PSVs for field support offshore Azerbaijan

DUBAI, UAE -- BP has awarded vessel operator Topaz Energy and Marine two contracts to support development programs in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
Topaz has acquired two European-built, DP-2 platform supply vessels (PSVs) for the five-year contracts, valued at around $100 million. One is 3,300 metric ton (3,638 ton) dwt and the other is 4,000 metric ton (4,409-ton) dwt.
The boats will be deployed during the current quarter and in 2Q 2014 to support operations on the ACG fields and the Shah Deniz 2 development.
Topaz now has a 26-strong fleet size in Azeri waters. The company has been operating in the Caspian Sea since its acquisition of BUE Marine in 2005.
